The following details the events during the 2007 Wildlife Asia Festival. Information on the 2008 NGO events will be released closer to the festival.
Outside of the seminars, which will cover many themes of interest to NGOs, we have a number of other events that have been designed with the intention of: introducing NGOs to the media; exploring effective communication strategies; and providing networking opportunities between NGOs and communications professionals. These sessions will also be of interest to filmmakers who are keen to know more about the conservation and environmental fields, and who are looking for opportunities to apply their skills to this sector.
Day One - March 13th 2007
NGO Introduction to Television and the Media
Session for NGOs to introduce the media as a powerful tool in conservation and environmental awareness, including opportunity for newcomers to team up with ‘buddies’ to help guide them through the festival and make introductions.
Day Two - March 14th 2007
Filmmakers For Conservation Open Meeting
Meeting for members and non-members – introduction to FFC and it’s initiatives.
Day Three - March 15th 2007
Education Outreach Initiatives
Looking at the most effective ways by which the industry can help the conservation world by using wildlife films to educate and empower people to care for the natural world – through such initiatives as freely distributing and screening films in ‘mobile cinemas’ – bringing films into remote communities that would not otherwise have access to wildlife films.
Day Four - March 16th 2007
Intensive Media Workshops 1 & 2
A chance for NGOs to really get to grips with their own media and communications skills and understand how they can use the media to their advantage.
