A special note from Dr. Jane Goodall DBE:
"From my visits to Asia and my discussions with conservationists here, it has become obvious that human population growth and the decline of natural resources has placed a real strain on the remaining wilderness areas, and the situation is very critical.
There are many things that have to be done to address these problems but I think it is an absolutely key that there is a stronger attempt to educate the public; to help them understand so that they can be empowered to take action and bring about change. One really important way of doing this is by making better use of the media.
The media has great power and wildlife film festivals can play a very important role in educating the public and focusing the efforts of the television industry and conservation community on these problems.
I think Wildlife Asia has the potential of becoming a very important catalyst for raising awareness of conservation issues throughout Asia. Wildlife Asia is a tremendously important opportunity for Asia, the host country, and for the great people who support this project. I truly wish Wildlife Asia great success, I applaud the idea and I certainly give it my full support."
